How We Price Our CSA
Farming brings a rich diversity of connections into our lives; we love the dynamic, and challenging work of farming and the relationships we have formed in our neighborhood and community. We are grateful for the outdoor work, and the amazing food we have access to. We feel privileged to be growing food for our neighbors and CSA members, and finding the balance of charging enough to pay a decent wage, while keeping our food reasonably priced, has been incredibly challenging.
This year, we are raising our veggie share prices to accommodate rapidly rising operating costs, and most importantly, to increase wages for our employees and for ourselves. Our goal in 2026 is to pay our farm crew $18-$19/ hr,
If you are a returning member, and due to financial hardship are unable to return to Bug for another season, please contact us ASAP to discuss some other options!
We will continue to offer a flexible payment plan for all of our members.
A few reasons why our shares are priced they way they are:
1) We’re supporting a small family with children, in addition to 3 employees
2) we offer multiple pick up sites to our shareholders
3) we offer share rescheduling for when you’re out of town
4) We are happy to offer monthly/weekly payments plans at no additional cost to you!
5) we take time to send a weekly newsletter with a share picture, and farm updates/pictures, recipes and more
6) we buy as many locally and regionally grown seeds as we can — and these are often much more expensive than cheaper low quality seeds
7) we grow 90% of our food on borrowed plots, and it takes a lot of resources and time to care for these individual spaces
